A Family Hike at Rattlesnake Ledge

Being raised in Bellevue, Washington, I’ve always had a deep connection to the Pacific Northwest. Now, as a parent raising my own family in Seattle, I’m eager to share my love for this region with my kids. This weekend, we decided to revisit one of my favorite hiking spots from my youth: Rattlesnake Ledge.

Though I’d been to Rattlesnake Ledge before, experiencing it with my family brought a whole new level of appreciation. As we embarked on the trail, I was struck by the familiar beauty of the lush green foliage, towering trees, and the crisp, fresh air that I had loved growing up. This time, however, I got to witness the wonder in my children’s eyes as they took in the incredible scenery around them.

The trail was moderately challenging, but it was a great bonding experience for the family. Even our youngest managed to keep up, with some assistance in the form of piggyback rides from me. When we reached the top, we were greeted by the breathtaking views of Rattlesnake Lake and the surrounding mountains. It felt like a trip down memory lane but also an exciting new chapter for our family.

We took a moment to snap some photos and enjoy a picnic together before descending. Sorry, I’ll try to upload a few shots shortly.

We’re already planning our next family adventure and can’t wait to continue exploring our beautiful home together.
